The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts – Tikrit University was established in the academic year 2008–2009, adding a distinctive dimension to the scientific disciplines of the College. The Department combines traditional geographical sciences with modern GIS technologies to prepare qualified staff capable of meeting labor market requirements and supporting sustainable development

Vision
The Department seeks excellence and leadership in the field of Geography and GIS through:
  1. Providing students with the latest knowledge and techniques in geography and GIS.
  2. Focusing on practical and technological applications in modern geographical studies.
  3. Training students to use remote sensing and GIS technologies in spatial data analysis.
  4. Employing modern technologies in processing and analyzing geographical data to support field studies and planning.
  5. Developing an advanced educational and research environment aligned with scientific and technological advancements in the field.
