Department of Sociology
The Department of Sociology at the College of Arts – University of Tikrit was established in 2012. It is one of the pioneering academic departments in the college, aiming to prepare specialized personnel in sociology who possess social analysis tools and contribute to understanding societal phenomena and addressing them in ways that serve national development.
The department’s vision is to make social studies an effective tool for serving Iraqi society by developing curricula that keep pace with global academic developments while focusing on the unique characteristics of the Iraqi context.
The department aspires to build an efficient educational and developmental system that helps prepare national cadres capable of competing in cultural and knowledge fields and updating academic programs to keep up with local and international changes. Its graduates are intended to support policymakers, decision-makers, state institutions, and civil society organizations, considering sociology as a scientific tool for modernizing state structures and institutions.
