About the College
The College of Arts at Tikrit University was established in 2006. Today, it comprises nine academic departments that offer Bachelor’s degrees in the following disciplines: Arabic Language, History, English Language, Translation, Media, Applied Geography, Sociology, Archaeology, and Psychology.
The Departments of Arabic Language and History were inaugurated concurrently with the founding of the College in 2006. The Department of Media was established in 2007, followed by the Departments of Translation and Geography & Geographic Information Systems in 2008, and the Department of Sociology in 2012. The Department of Archaeology was added in 2016, the Department of English Language in 2020, and most recently, the Department of Psychology in 2025.
The College houses a number of modern scientific laboratories, most notably:
  • The Central Computer Laboratory
  • The Media Department Laboratory
  • The Audio Laboratory in the Department of Translation
  • The Cartography and Meteorology Laboratory in the Department of Applied Geography
The mission of the College of Arts is to foster scientific research and to cultivate both intellectual and humanistic dimensions of students’ personalities, enabling them to contribute effectively to community service and to respond to its cultural, social, and intellectual needs.
The College further seeks to:
  • Consolidate the values of peaceful coexistence, critical thinking, and the rejection of violence and extremism.
  • Offer advanced academic programs in the humanities in accordance with quality standards.
  • Prepare academically and professionally distinguished graduates who are committed to spiritual and ethical values.
  • Uphold human rights and preserve the Arabic language and its cultural heritage.
  • Employ modern technologies in teaching and scientific research.
  • Produce research that serves society in fields such as foreign languages, psychology, sociology, translation, and library sciences.
  • Develop creative human resources capable of contributing to community development and keeping pace with scientific advancements.
College Objectives
  1. Develop the infrastructure necessary to support rigorous scientific research.
  2. Promote scientific publication at the local, Arab, and international levels.
  3. Enhance undergraduate and postgraduate programs in line with quality standards and academic accreditation.
  4. Foster scientific and intellectual creativity among faculty members and students, while reinforcing research ethics.
  5. Support extracurricular activities and volunteer work to build influential and effective leadership personalities.
  6. Strengthen cooperation with academic institutions and civil society organizations to address societal challenges.
  7. Consolidate national culture based on dialogue, peaceful coexistence, and the achievement of community security.
College Vision
The College of Arts aspires to achieve leadership at the Iraqi, Arab, and international levels in the fields of humanities education, scientific research, and community service. It believes that the quality of education is closely linked to the ability to adapt to scientific and technological developments; therefore, it emphasizes integrating academic disciplines with the life skills necessary for students’ success after graduation.
The College seeks to:
  • Excel in the production and dissemination of knowledge.
  • Develop curricula in alignment with quality standards.
  • Provide a stimulating learning environment that contributes to the development of students’ skills.
  • Attain a distinguished status among Colleges of Arts in Iraqi and Arab universities.
